Molly Half Head - Vivid Whitsun (Playtime Records, 1993)
Another fantastic Manchester band who I have very fond memories of. It was tough choosing the first song to upload from this album because everyone’s a gem - I still play it, always a good sign. After much deliberation and messages between various members of the band I went for ‘Vivid Whitsun’ off the bands debut album ‘Sulk’. Other favourites from the band included ‘Just’ and ‘Bone Idol’, which I’ll also upload. Funnily enough nobody chose the single ‘Barny’, which was the song that got everybody interested in the band - One of their early supporters being former NME writer, John Harris.
The album was produced by Miti Adhikari at Chapel Studio’s and mixed by Mark Freegard at Parr Street. The band met Miti when he recorded them for a Steve Lamacq session at the BBC Maida Vale Studios. What a brilliant team of people to work with!
‘Sulk’ was designed by David Marsh at Tangent and features ‘Senecio’ by Paul Klee (1922), a beautiful painting but rather expensive to clear….
